Faith Formation is the Focus of Augsburg’s Children’s Ministries

  • Faith formation is one of the most important parts of our journey as Christians. While we value faith formation throughout all stages of life, we put a special emphasis on children’s and youth ministries.
  • We learn best by doing, so our faith formation programs have a variety of different components:
  • Worship
  • Learning
  • Service
  • Community
  • Our youth group offers a safe space for young Lutherans of many backgrounds, and we foster an energetic and welcoming environment that celebrates being created in God’s image.

Augsburg’s Youth Grow in Faith Through Education, Service, Fellowship and More

  • Middle and High School Youth Groups meet on most Sunday evenings from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm. Programs run the gamut from life choices, to bible study, to outreach activities, to fun group-building activities and games.
  • 8th - 12th grade youth attend the ELCA national youth gathering event which occurs every three years (next one is Minneapolis in 2027). On in-between years, Older Youth make service oriented mission trips to regional destinations. Middle school students take mission trips every year.
  • 6th - 12th grade youth attend the NC Synod’s LYO Assembly which takes place for one weekend every winter and spring.

Faith Formation includes Confirmation

  • Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade go through Confirmation classes with the Pastors and volunteers. Classes take place during the spring in a 10-week time frame, right before Youth Group.
