Birth to Fifth Grade at Augsburg
Nursery
- Infants thru 3 years old.
- Available Sundays 8:15 am - 12:15 pm.
- Nursery is led by two nursery staff members.
- Volunteers are helpful as more little ones join the flock! Talk to Pastor Katie if you’re interested in being on-call as a nursery volunteer to work alongside our nursery staff.

Little Church
- Age 3 (and potty trained) to age 7
- Little Church is a space where children can explore the rhythms of worship in interactive ways.
- Every Sunday during the 8:30 am worship service (room opens at 8:15 am)
- Children process into the “big” church before Holy Communion.
- NEEDS: Volunteer helpers and Secret Readers! (let Pastor Katie know if you’d like to come and tell the Bible Story one Sunday!)
- Led by Pastor Katie
Children's Faith Formation and the Arts
- Sundays from 9:45 - 10:45 am
- Children will split their time between formation and the arts (we’ll switch groups halfway thru!)
- 2 groups: PreK - 2nd grade and 3rd - 5th grade
- Formation will be in the Little Church Room and the Kid’s Room (both near nursery!)
- Volunteers are needed! We will need at least 2 adults with each class. To volunteer – contact Pastor Katie!
- It’s really important that you do your best to have your kids there by 9:45 am, as we will be squeezing a lot into an hour. Pick-up kids in their formation rooms.
Faith Formation
Younger Kids
- Age 3 and potty-trained thru 2nd grade.
- Each Sunday, we’ll share a Bible story in a circle. Then the children can choose how they wish to respond to the story through wonder, play, arts, or story.
- Volunteers/parents are always welcome and encouraged to join us in the circle!

Older Kids
- 3rd - 5th grade
- We’ll travel thru the Bible with the People of God using Daniel Erlander’s Manna & Mercy.
- Stepping into the holy stories, kids will work with the geography, history, art, personalities, and lessons from Biblical times that still shape us today.
Children can best participate when faith formation becomes a part of the rhythm of their lives! If you are unable to be there on a Sunday, take time as a family to read Bible stories and wonder together what God is doing each day.
Where do you see God at work?
Youthrans
- 3rd-5th grade
- Youthrans meet one Sunday afternoon a month in the youth space.
- Our goals is very simple - ice-breaker games, discuss who we are as a group, do a fun craft, and learn about being a part of the church!
- Your participation is extremely appreciated and encouraged! Parents are welcome to stay and/or volunteer for monthly Youthrans meetings.
Lutheroad Day Camp
Augsburg partners with other local Lutheran churches to host Lutheroad Day Camp every summer! Lutheridge camp counselors provide a summer camp preview in a weeklong daycamp experience for K-5th graders right here in Winston-Salem. Contact Pastor Katie for more information!

The Arts
- We will focus each week on a different element of the arts, rotating through: singing, chimes, drama, and percussion. We will learn AND have fun!
- Parents are welcome and encouraged to join us to see what we are learning and to learn with us. We’ll need at least one volunteer each week!
- All children will be invited to join in sharing our gifts and talents during worship several times throughout the year. Karen will let you know closer to the time so you can plan to be there!
- If you have any questions, or would like to be more involved in the arts with our children, feel free to contact Karen: musicassociate@alcws.org.

A Note to Parents:
Pastor Paul & Pastor Kat will be teaching the Adult Sunday School class. Parents are also welcome to gather for coffee and fellowship across the hall from the kids’ spaces. Please know that our church follows a Safe Gatherings policy that requires two trained and cleared adults in classrooms with kids – so you might be asked to step in as a second adult in the event that we need more help with the kids. We need a deeper list of volunteers to help with the kids – please let Pastor Katie or Katie McIntosh know if you can help!
