Worship is the central component of life within the congregation at

Augsburg Lutheran Church.

Augsburg’s worship services are the center of our faith life. Each Sunday, we worship at 8:30 am and 11:00 am in our sanctuary, while our sanctuary is under renovation. Our worship space is traditional, and the same can be said about our worship. We follow a liturgy similar to many other churches. The word “liturgy” means, “work of the people,” which reminds us that worship should be participatory. Our worship includes four sections: Gathering, Word, Meal, and Sending. We use the same basic scriptures each week as many other churches, called the Revised Common Lectionary. We celebrate communion every Sunday. All who are accustomed to receiving communion (including children) are welcome to do so each and every Sunday morning.

In worship, we gather as a community to celebrate God’s presence, listen to God’s Word, and respond to God’s call to service in our world. Martin Luther considered music a gift from God second only to the Word of God, and as such, we place a high value on the music in our worship services. A nursery is provided, as well, and worship lasts about an hour. Our 8:30 am service includes all of the components above, but in a less formal manner compared to our 11:00 am service. For both services, feel free to come as you are.

In addition to two services on almost every Sunday, we offer meaningful worship services on special festival days throughout the year such as Reformation, All Saints, Christmas Eve, Epiphany, and Good Friday.
